Official preview text of the mvg publishing house:

Many women know this: You struggle with sports and diets to lose a few pounds, but your legs just don’t really get thinner – no matter how slim you have become in your face and upper body. There remains the unpleasant feeling that one is not disciplined enough, not trained hard enough and often this is also confirmed by the reactions of the environment. “Then lose a little more weight!”, “You have to exercise too, otherwise nothing will happen!” – these are sentences that Madlen Kaniuth has often heard and that many other women know. It is not unlikely that the legs are not thinner because of the clinical picture of “lipedema”. This is a hormone-related fat distribution disorder, through which fatty tissue is disproportionately deposited in the legs and arms, which in turn results in poorer lymphatic fluid drainage. The result is excessively thick legs (or arms), which are sensitive to pain, bruise easily and can be treated by neither diet nor exercise, but only surgery. Every 10th woman is affected.
Madlen Kaniuth has been suffering from lipedema since her youth – but she was not diagnosed until early 2014. She had been through the same ordeal as many women, but was able to counteract it with the appropriate operations. In this book, she describes her experiences, gives advice and help to all those affected and encourages them to fight the disease and no longer doubt themselves.
